Unlike larger commercial farms that aim for significant profit, hobby farms are typically managed by individuals or families who have other primary sources of income. The emphasis on a hobby farm is often on enjoying the process of farming, cultivating the land, and possibly raising animals, without the primary goal of making a living from the farm.
Larger commercial farms primarily used for commercial actives may be ineligible for financing. Examples, of this type of farm would be if the property had a slaughter house used as a commercial butchering operation.
